Hello World
Hello and howdy. My name is Christopher and welcome to Thoughts.
For the past 3 months, I've been building this website. It's a portfolio to show my work, and a blog to practice and improve my writing. Before this, I had only dabbled in public writing a few times, mostly on GameDeveloper.com prior to the name change.
I'll use Thoughts to write about topics that interest me. I'll write about game development, where I have the most experience, as well as music, art, books, politics, and technology.
Code and Conduct
I should say upfront: I built this website with help from Anthropic's Claude and Claude Code.
I felt a project like this would be a good way to display both my design principles and capabilities to execute with LLMs. For this project - I did not use any writing, text, or art, or in general designs that are not my own. Images and materials I display are from projects I worked on or images from other media I use as jokes.
My ethics of AI usage are the following:
- I will not generate or steal art and claim it as my own.
- I will never publish a word that was not written by me.
- I will source and cite any work, writing, or art that is not my own.
- Any work that was formed using LLMs, I will indicate it.
Right now, I don't want to promote or praise any of these AI companies or products. Outside of the affordances they provide in allowing me to design freely and utilize a model's software engineering capabilities to create this website and perhaps future tools or products - these companies are threatening the planet because world governments are not doing the bare minimum in protecting us all from their weaponization and unsustainable environmental and economic impacts brought on by datacenters. They are all in serious need of regulation, taxing, fining for most everything you have likely read about - and even dismantling.
I know that's a bit hypocritical — I'll likely keep using AI tools myself, since they're becoming standard in software development.
But I want to declare here that I will never use an LLM for my writing on this site aside from spell checks. I alone express every view here, and I type every word myself.
The site will always be “Christopher”.
